summer season kicks off this month with live music and a local art show at the courthouse square. The community event continues each Friday throughout July and features work from several wonderful artisans who craft using a variety of mediums, such as wood, paint, leather, glass and metal.

Sam’s Castle Tour
900 Mirador Terrace, Pacifica
, which was built in 1908, is built on a large cliff overlooking the ocean and has a very unique story behind it. Take in the splendor of Pacifica’s famous castle through a room-by-room tour hosted by Bridget Oates, the author of a book about the castle’s storied history. The one-and-a-half hour tour also includes light refreshments and is open to adults only.
Gilroy Garlic Festival
Christmas Hill Park, 7050 Miller Avenue, Gilroy
The Gilroy Garlic Festival is a celebration of food and family fun. The annual event is home to some unique entertainment, including gourmet alley, where pyro chefs put on a show as they prepare a variety of delicious garlicky dishes. Live music is also pouring out of every part of the festival, with three large entertainment stages and strolling musicians entertaining the crowd with jazz, blues, rock ‘n roll, and more. The family fun continues into the children’s area, where kids can feast on kid-friendly food, enjoy exciting rides, and take part in hands-on activities.
