The Bay Area is full of can’t-miss events this month! July is filled with amazing cultural events celebrating the arts throughout the region, including a month-long art exhibit, an arts and crafts fair, and a fun family festival. Here are the best events happening in the Bay Area this month.


Art on the Square

July 15
Courthouse Square, 2200 Broadway, Redwood City

The Art on the Square summer season kicks off this month with live music and a local art show at the courthouse square. The community event continues each Friday throughout July and features work from several wonderful artisans who craft using a variety of mediums, such as wood, paint, leather, glass and metal. 


California Rodeo

Salinas Sports Complex, 1034 North Main Street, Salinas

The annual California Rodeo will celebrate its 108th anniversary this year with a selection of horse shows, barrel racing, and bull fights. This annual sporting event is one of the top 20 rodeos in the country and the largest in California.


Menlo Summer Fest

July 21-22
Santa Cruz Avenue, Menlo Park

Enjoy amazing live music, world-class art, artisan food and drink, and garden exhibits at the annual Menlo Summer Fest. The picturesque tree-lined Santa Cruz Avenue will be bustling with activity during this two-day festival. Thousands of handcrafted items from local artisans, including artwork, jewelry, ceramics, home decor, and clothing, will be available for purchase throughout the festival. The event will also include kid-friendly fun at the kid zone with sand art, a rock climbing wall, and carnival rides.


Sam’s Castle Tour

July 22
900 Mirador Terrace, Pacifica

Sam’s Castle, which was built in 1908, is built on a large cliff overlooking the ocean and has a very unique story behind it. Take in the splendor of Pacifica’s famous castle through a room-by-room tour hosted by Bridget Oates, the author of a book about the castle’s storied history. The one-and-a-half hour tour also includes light refreshments and is open to adults only.


Gilroy Garlic Festival

July 27-29
Christmas Hill Park, 7050 Miller Avenue, Gilroy

The Gilroy Garlic Festival is a celebration of food and family fun. The annual event is home to some unique entertainment, including gourmet alley, where pyro chefs put on a show as they prepare a variety of delicious garlicky dishes. Live music is also pouring out of every part of the festival, with three large entertainment stages and strolling musicians entertaining the crowd with jazz, blues, rock ‘n roll, and more. The family fun continues into the children’s area, where kids can feast on kid-friendly food, enjoy exciting rides, and take part in hands-on activities. You also don’t want to miss the festival’s arts and crafts show -- each artist on display is handpicked by festival organizers to ensure an outstanding collection of artisan pieces this year.
