Los Gatos offers a stunning blend of natural scenery and urban vibrancy. One of the oldest communities in Santa Clara County, Los Gatos today is part of the Silicon Valley tech hub. It retains a quaint historic downtown area packed with boutique shops and restaurants, while its position at the base of the Sierra Azules gives Los Gatos residents easy access to hiking and cycling trails through gorgeous areas of natural beauty.

The architecture of Los Gatos reflects its position in the middle of Silicon Valley’s cutting-edge modernity and the Santa Cruz mountains’ timeless majesty, with many properties adding a touch of modern flair to the simple and classic design. Its homes and townhouses are perfect spaces for urban professionals looking to combine the convenience of a city with easy access to outdoor pursuits. 

Many of Los Gatos’ residents have tech jobs in Silicon Valley, with Apple’s Steve Wozniak being one of the best-known. Hollywood stars Joan Fontaine, Olivia de Havilland, and Aaron Eckhart grew up in Los Gatos. This beautiful and historic town also has many retired sports stars among its residents.

Los Gatos is one of Santa Clara County’s most historic communities. It became an incorporated town in 1870, taking its name from the cougars, bobcats, and mountain lions in the densely wooded hillsides overlooking the township. Today Los Gatos is an integral part of Silicon Valley, home to the headquarters of Netflix and innovative mobile device manufacturer Akyumen. Residents move to Los Gatos for its gorgeous scenery, exciting cultural life, and slightly farther-removed San Francisco Bay Area location.

The bustling streets of downtown Los Gatos are full of fashion boutiques, quality restaurants and coffee shops. The exciting and vibrant downtown area retains much of Los Gatos’ historic charm and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. More than 3000 businesses operate in Los Gatos and there are a dozen neighborhood shopping centers, meaning you can find anything you need without leaving the city.

Los Gatos is blessed with many beautiful parks and trails. Vasona Lake Park has hiking and biking trails, as well as boating on the lake in summer. Mountain trails pass through the gorgeous scenery of the Santa Clara mountains including Los Gatos creek, one of the few urban streams in Santa Clara County. There are regular farmers’ markets where you can buy fresh local produce. In addition, the exquisite surrounding vineyards offer unique wine-tasting experiences.  

A summer highlight is "Jazz on the Plazz", a series of weekly free concerts held at Los Gatos Town Plaza. The concerts bring top jazz musicians to town each Wednesday evening from late June until late August. Residents and visitors relax with picnics at the plaza to enjoy this popular annual event.
